Thursday Morning LineDanceClassicsTM with Hedy McAdams ~ NEW CLASS FORMAT!

Class Descriptions:
Classic line dances and dances of exceptional merit taught by Palo Alto’s Hedy McAdams, internationally award winning and world-renowned choreographer and teacher.  ("Classics" are dances so well-choreographed that they continue to be taught and danced at line dance venues locally and around the world!)  For active adults of all ages, class features music from Swing, C/W (Country Western), Latin, Ballroom, and Zydeco traditions and forms.  An outrageously fun way to stay in shape, make new friends, and energize mind, body, and spirit. Three skill level sections are offered; with a reduced cost available if you register for two sections.  Singles are welcome ~ No partners necessary!  Co-produced by The City of Palo Alto Recreation Department and Dance Adventures.

Sign-up for 8-Class Series, or take on a drop-in basis.  Registration for series or purchase drop-in tickets can be handled in any of the following 4 ways.  (1) by registering or purchasing drop-in tickets on-site, (2) by using the internet and a credit card on-line at:  EnjoyOnline@cityofpaloalto.org, (3) by telephone at 650-463-4900, or (4) through U.S. mail using the coupon in the Enjoy catalog or recreation department website.

Sec. A ~ Basics/Beginning Line Dance:  Focuses on beginners as well as experienced dancers who want to review or warm-up for intermediate class.  Great for absolute beginners who are looking for a pleasurable way to build motor-skill coordination (balance, flexibility, strength and endurance) and memory skills, as well as for returning students who want to review or refresh basic technique and patterns.  This section features easier dances taught at a more leisurely pace, with Hedy's precise style.  Practice between classes is helpful, but not mandatory.  First class is free.  ***Note:  Both of Hedy's basics/beginning classes (Thursday mornings at Lucie Stern, and Tuesday Evenings at All Saints’) include her core curriculum.

Sec. B ~ Intermediate Line Dance:  Focuses on dancers who want more challenge, attention to styling, and more intense mind/body workout.   Skill level:  Advanced beginning to mid-intermediate line dances.  This section features more complex line dance classics taught at a faster pace, with continued attention to styling details.  Practice between classes is highly recommended.

Sec. C ~ Advanced Line Dance PowWow & Workout:  Workshop format focuses on dancers with a minimum of 2 years line dance experience, or by permission of instructor (phone:  650-325-3371). Ideal for dancers who want the ultimate challenge in line dance and want to build resilience and dance floor stamina, flexibility & strength, effortless and graceful technique, memory capacity, and consistent poise and composure on the dance floor.  Workshop features classic advanced line dances that continue to excite and intrigue advanced line dancers locally and around the world, peppered with pre-announced and surprise “quizes,” and exercises designed to build poise and confidence.  On-going advanced students must be willing to practice between workshops.  Skill level:  advanced-Intermediate to advanced-advanced line dances.

Sec. D ~ Two sections taken concurrently:  Basics/beginning (Sec. A) and Intermediate (Sec. B).  Take a second section at a reduced cost!
