Doris Kalal
. . . with a life-long love of dance and
a willingness to share it with others, has surprisingly created a second career.
She has earned a reputation for her unique talents in dance instruction and
choreography. Doris has danced since she was eight and has taken lessons every
since. Originally from Long Island, New York, She lived in San Fernando Valley,
California, before her move to Kauai in 1991. Doris can be considered our
Honolulu connection as she now resides in Waikiki where she continues to teach
Line Dancing, West Coast Swing and Hustle and been recently voted the most
popular teacher in Honolulu. She also has background in Ballroom and Latin
dance. She has choreographed several line dances that have been published in
national dance magazines.
Doris has been responsible for helping to coordinate large groups of dancers from Australia, New Zealand, and Northern California to visit and enjoy dancing in Waikiki. She is currently teaching at Nashville Waikiki in the Ohana (Outrigger) West Hotel, Elks Club, Parents Without Partners’ dances, Manoa Parks and Recreation plus private parties. Kalakauka Ave is the main street going through Waikiki along the hotels and then
the beach and through the park. Kuhio is the second main street from the beach
and the third main street is Ala Wai Blvd. This street runs along the Ala Wai
