Ruth and Mike are popular teachers in the East Bay of San Francisco. In addition to regular classes in Hayward and Castro Valley, Ruth (ably assisted by ‘the lovely Mike’) guest teaches at dance clubs in the area. They teach all levels of line dance, partner dances and beginning two step and west coast swing.

Ruth has choreographed several dances, which have been well – received by her students and in other classes (Thank you Hutch and Carmel!). Her best-known dance, "Double L Waltz", still frequently appears on request lists.

Ruth says she has been dancing "forever" – as this picture demonstrates.

This is from my first dance recital. I was a picket in the picket fence.

And I was hooked on dance for a lifetime!

After the early training of ballet, tap and jazz, Ruth danced through school and graduated as a Dance Major. She taught in High Schools and Colleges in the Bay Area.

After leaving the school district, Ruth continued to dance recreationally, starting with West coast Swing then progressing through Line Dance, Two step, Waltz and more Swing. In 1992, she met Mike at dance classes in Vallejo, California (those crazy people will travel for miles for a chance to dance!). They worked and danced together on the Quake Country Dancers team. In July, 1995, they married

Soon Mike started helping out in Ruth’s dance classes where his attitude and humor are as appreciated as his dance skill.

Do I know this dance?" "Yes, dear."

"Do I like it?"

"Yes, dear…and you look good, too!"

The students love him. He always makes them smile.

Mike says that he dances to have fun, so we do!.

One of the joys that all dancers know, is the special pleasure gained from traveling to new places, meeting new friends and learning dances from all over the world. In March of 2001, we had the privilege to participate in "Dancing in the Desert", a dance event in Hammamet, Tunisia. Needless to say, it was a remarkable experience both for the touring and the fellowship and dancing with 11 Americans, 1 Canadian and bunches of Brits!

Days spent touring, nights dancing, new friends and new dances…what a week!

We look forward to meeting you in Hawaii—on the dance floor, the beach or the classroom…it will be fun! Join us! Thank you, Hedy for this opportunity to combine vacation, relaxation and dancing—truly an ideal week for us
